First night SLEEP in HER own bedroom Ever!

Tonight is Maya first night slept in her own bedroom. She is so curious and sad before go to her own bedroom to sleep. Mum can saw tears drop from her gorgeous little eyes. But, she's not saying any words when mum ask her to sleep on her own bedroom. Mum knows that she looks very upset but thing must go on. Maya must sleep on her own and now she's turning into 7 years old. that is strong reason why she should do that.

Here are several tips

Things You'll Need: Stuffed animal, New blanket, Flashlight or nightlight

Set up a bedtime routine with your child. This can be a story, a song and a hug in your child's room, for example. This routine should begin at the same time every day. The regular structure will help your child prepare for bed, while a new routine can set new expectations.

Tell your child that he must sleep in his own. If he has slept in your bed on a regular basis up to this point, prepare him for the change by talking about it first.

Buy your child a new blanket, pillow or stuffed animal to celebrate the fact that he is now big enough to sleep in his own bed.

Sit in the room with your child while he falls asleep. This process is gradual, and the idea is to slowly work away from doing this. Spend a few days doing this. Once your child easily falls asleep with you in the room, move to the next step.

Wait for your child to fall asleep while you are sitting in the hall. You should still be visible to your child in the hall. This will help your child become comfortable with being alone in his room. Do this until you child is comfortable falling asleep on his own with you in the hall. This may take up to two weeks.

Begin going to your room or another area of the house while your child falls asleep. If your child gets up during this point, simply escort your child back to bed with no comment. Tuck him in, but do not sing another song or reward the behavior with a drink or a snack. In a few days, your child should be used to falling asleep on his own.

LOVE

Children need to know they are loved and to be proud of who they are. Use words that help, not hurt. Say positive things to your child.
You could go on special outings, such as to a petting zoo, art gallery, museum or bush walk.
Older brothers and sisters can play and look at books with your younger child.

TALK, SING, READ

Read books with simple text that your child can memorise or read.
Let your child choose books from the library. Help him/her to find books about their interests, e.g. dinosaurs, trains, dogs, etc.
Look for books about events happening in their lives, such as starting school.
Point out signs, food packets and other ways language and pictures are used when you shop.
Children this age like to tell stories. You can help them make their own books with pictures.
Take your child for a walk and tell him/her about their family and their history.

PLAY

Your child may like playing puzzles, board game, card games or "I spy" with you.
Caring for pets and planting seeds in pots and watching them grow teaches children about living things.
Paper plates can be made into masks, Your child can cut out the shape for eyes, nose and mouth and glue things on or paint the mask.
Offer your child objects that can be sorted into size or colour, such as clothes or pencils.
Housework can be fun and your child can learn skills by helping to cook or putting things away into cupboards.

Flower Vase Craft

Project Name: Flower Vase
What you'll need:
Round cardboard box (such as oatmeal or bread crumb boxes)
Coloured pare, wallpaper or wrapping paper
Old paintbrush
Glue
Scissors
Here's how:
Cut or tear the paper into small pieces about the same shape.
Decorate the box by gluing pieces of the coloured paper over the entire box.
Brush glue over the whole vase to smooth it out.
Suggestions:
Use the flowers from the Spring Flowers project.
Use masking tape to cover the box, then rub it all with shoe polish to give it the look of leather.

Spring Flowers Craft Idea

Today, Maya is so exciting when I told her that we are going to make some flower craft as long as she finish do some handwriting practice for her full name and phonic words that we had already learn. To make sure she memorizing all the words and the letter sounds, every time when she write, mummy ask her to say the sound and the word altogether. In that way, I think it's better way for her to practice memorizing what she had learn. Then, we do some mathematics workbook as usual. Next, we'll do this arts and crafts project...

Project Name: Spring Flowers Crafts
What you'll need:
construction paper, green and other colour
crayon or markers
scissors
glue
paper punch hole (optional)
Here's how:
Cut a circle about 1 1/2 inches across out of construction paper
Glue dots from a hole punch or color a design in the center of the flower
Cut out 1/2 inch by 2 1/2 inch strips of construction paper to make petals
Glue the ends of petals together, as shown
Glue the petals onto the back of the circle. You may need to hold it for minute while it dries
Cut a stem and some leaves from the green construction paper and glue them to the flower
Suggestions:

Glue another ring of petals behind the first set
Use longer strips to make longer petals

How to Help Your Child Recognize and Manage Feelings

As parents we always do our BEST to make sure and think what is the SMART way in order to discipline our Preschoolers for their early years. These are some tips to help your child recognize and manage their feelings:

Invite the child to draw a picture of how the emotion feels. Does it have a colour? A sound?

Ask the child to talk through rather than act out what she/he is feeling.

Ask the child what she notices happening in her body when she gets really angry.

Provide an acceptable way to deal with anger. Some preschool have an "anger box" a knee-high cardboard box where an angry child can go to stand, jump, or yell when upset.

Invite the child to take cooling-off, time-out period before acting on her strong emotions.

Let children have the last word. Avoid trying to talk children out of their feelings or trying to fix things for them. Have faith in your children; let their feelings run their course and teach them to work things out for themselves.

How to Really Talk to Your Kids

Talking with kids can be challenge. Busy schedules, homes designed for individual enjoyment rather than group living and kids who calm up are some conversation blockers parents must overcome.

So you need to be cunning and proactive to get some chats going. Here are some ideas:

Turn screens off. Are you competing with TVs, computers, electronic games for your kids attention? If so, take control of the screens to create some conversational space.
Turn screens on. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Some TV programs provide good conversational fodder, particularly for older children and teens.
Have regular mealtimes. The family that eats together talks together. Meals are social occasions, more than just refueling stops.
Talk with kids on their own turf. Many children will open up in the privacy of their own room when they feel relaxed and secure.
Try shoulder - to - shoulder parenting. Travelling in a car with radio off, washing dishes or playing a game can all provides opportunity to talk. Some kids will talk more when they don't have to concentrate or make eye contact with other person. That's why cars can be great conversation catalyst.

Every family has their own way of getting the talk happening. Figure out what works for you and make sure it happens. The best communication in families happens when no-one is working at it. But busy families need to work on their communication rather than leaving it to chance.

Lapbooks are great ways to include hands-on activities to your kids curriculum!

1. What is a lapbook?
A lapbook is a hands-on tool that you can use with your children in place of worksheets or other monotonous learning tools. It can be used for ages preschool through high school and can be used with any subject matter!

As a homeschool parent or teacher you may hear this type of comment kids learning improves when lessons incorporate hands-on projects or crafts.It is true! Student learning does improve when you include hands-on activities! Think about yourself, as a learner- is it more fun to read a recipe on paper or actually dig your hands in and make that recipe?

Lapbooks become portfolios that your student has created about a particular topic. They are easy to store and fit into a file cabinet, file box, or magazine holder with ease. In addition, lapbooks are an instant review tool! What better way to go back over the things your student learned about the Moon than pulling out a lapbook and reminiscing about all the great projects he or she completed!

2. How are lapbooks made?
Lapbooks are made from file folders, cardstock, poster board, foam core, pocket folders; notebook's; feel free to use your imagination!

A lapbook is a created using a collection of mini books and activities that can be put inside a folder or a small book. Each mini book or project addresses a key point or concept relating to the unit study. For example, your student is studying the Moon. A lapbook on the study of the Moon may include:

A mini fan-book that the student has written Moon vocabulary words in.
A scale graphic that the student has created to compare the mass of the Moon to the Earth.
A mini book for the student to describe the different phases of the Moon.

Mini books included in a lapbook can be any sizes or shapes and made from cardstock, copy paper, scrapbooking paper, or even fabric. They can be created from computer graphics or hand-made. Projects can include crafts, recipes, and experiments as well! Why not make a model of the moon while completing the Moon lapbook? Or find a recipe for moon pies.The possibilities are endless.3. What supplies do I need to start lapbooking with my students?
The great thing about lapbooks is that you do not have to run out and purchase special supplies. Most people have the supplies they need right around the house. Basic supplies needed to lapbook include:

File folders

Hari yang indah. Pagi2 lagi Maya dh bangun sbb nk ikut mummy gie Royal North Shore Hospital untuk buat ultrasound baby. Excited sungguh dia. Walaupun kene kejut pagi2 buta.

Tak lama lagi, kami akn bercuti...hehe! yay! balik kampong...~ so, aktiviti pembelajaran kami agak slow sket. Cuma yang tak tinggal...easy read phonics n al-barqy. Maya dh mula excited utk belajar n hafal sume perkataan baru dan ayat baru dlm latihan belajar membaca bahasa Inggeris.

Skang nieh dia dh abiskan buku 2. Nak masuk buku 3. Nanti bila senang mummy akn snap gamba dan terangkan lebih lanjut mengenai aktiviti pembelajaran kami menggunakan buku nieh dr ReadNetwork.

Pagi nieh Maya dah ok sket...dia bangun lebih awal. Dlm kul 9.30pg dia dh bangun. Lepas breakfast n mandi nanti mummy nak soh dia baca surah...latihan mengingat! Kanak2 sebaya dia nieh perlu selalu dilatih mengingat, kalo tak diorang nieh cepat jek lupa.

Buat final touch-up untuk lapbook letter Ee. Buat sket latihan matematik n cut and paste.

Hr nieh Maya tak bape sihat. Dia kene runny nose. So, cuma dia ada mood utk painting picture. Tupun, mummy soh dia banyak berehat. Yela...kira cam half day je gie skolah. Hehe!

Hr nieh aktiviti kami adlh gunting dan tampal. Buat julung kalinya, maya berjaya membuat aktiviti gunting, tampal dan warna tanpa bantuan dr mummy. Excellent dear! tp kenela sentiasa ingatkan dia be careful...watch out your hand...pening2 dia pegang gunting tak tau dr arah mana nk gunting.

Berkenaan projek lapbook, hr nieh kitorang dah sampai ke tahap final menyiapkan lapbook huruf E. tgh final touch-up. Bila dh siap mummy upload gamba gak.

Bermulanya kisah...

Bermulanya kisah...mummy dan maya (4 tahun 2bln) dalam pengembaraan mempersiapkan diri untuk alam persekolahan. Memandangkan kami di Sydney maka maya tidak ke preschool atau daycare. Mummy adalah gurunya di rumah...Kira mcm homeschool la nieh.

Hr nieh mummy n maya memulakan latihan dengan menyiapkan latihan berkenaan alphabet recognition letter. Memandangkan tahun dpn maya dh nk masuk 5 tawon, maka byk benda yg dia perlu catch-up supaya tidak ketinggalan.

Dia kunpius tentang huruf i dan j...tp, setelah mummy tekankan dan soh dia tulis sume letter A-Z (combination upper n lower case) al-hamdulillah...dia dapat menyiapkannya. Bermula kul 2.00-2.30 ptg td aku mengajarnya tentang alphabet.

Pas kul 2.30ptg, maya bertanyakan tentang rancangan kartun kegemarannya. Cuma dia sempat layan kartun Olivia jek. oklah tu...mungkin dlm 3.15ptg nanti mummy akan ajarkannya Easy phonics plak sblom dia tido kejap.
